The Dodge Charger Police Vehicle - with the optional 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine - is the most powerful production police vehicle.  The Charger is the only police vehicle that offers best-in-class performance in four key pursuit categories:
  • Best-in-class available power - 368 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque (1)
  • Best-in-class acceleration - 0 to 100 mph in 14.29 seconds (1)
  • Best-in-class top speed - over 146 mph (1)
  • Best-in-class vehicle dynamics - average lap time of 01:37.08 (1)

The best-in-class 5.7L HEMI V8 engine features a Multi-Displacement System (MDS), which provides better fuel economy by deactivating four of the eight cylinders when less power is needed while cruising. The system functions so smoothly that drivers won't notice when four of the cylinders are deactivated but they'll always have the power of the V8 when needed.

A 250-horsepower 3.5L High Output V6 comes standard on Dodge Charger Police Vehicle.  It delivers 250 lb ft of torque and impressive EPA fuel economy estimates: 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

(1) 2009 Dodge Police Charger measured against 2009 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and Chevrolet Impala Police Vehicle.
